Job summary

Cowi in Glasgow is seeking a Graduate Engineer in Geology for the Summer Intake. This permanent, office/home hybrid role offers exposure to high-profile UK infrastructure projects and a tailored development plan toward Chartered status.

You will contribute to geotechnical design, site investigations, ground modelling, and reports, supported by senior engineers. A degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or Geology is required, with a drive to become Chartered and a passion for subsurface

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil/Structural/Geotechnical Engineering or Geology (with MSc if applicable).
• Strong motivation to become Chartered Engineer or Chartered Geologist.
• Some practical engineering experience (year in industry, summer placements, or final year project).
• Interest in engineering geology and subsurface behaviour.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration across diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Carry out geotechnical design activities, from data collection to analyses and calculations.
• Undertake engineering geological mapping and ground modelling at site scale and produce reports.
• Support and supervise ground investigations on site across various conditions.
• Check calculations and drawings to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Promote engineering best practice and use of in-house tools.
• Plan workload with project manager and report on progress and budget.
• Attend site visits or client meetings.
