We're looking for a salaried GP to join our dispensing practice in the beautiful surroundings of the Isle of Wight for 6 sessions per week.
Based in an idyllic rural setting, South Wight Medical Practice isbased in the heart of the community, offering traditional patient focusedGP-led care. We operate from threepractice bases in the scenic villages of Brighstone, Godshill and Niton.
Main duties of the job
As part of our team, you will manage a caseload and deal with awide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the higheststandards and quality of care for all registered and temporary patients.
The post-holder will undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients, signing prescriptions, dealing with queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion
Making professional, autonomous decisions, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
Developing care plans for health
Providing counselling and health education
Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Clinical responsibilities:
- Inaccordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder willmake him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties includingsurgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visitingpatients at home, checking, and signing prescriptions and dealing withqueries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion
- Makingprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems,whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers withinthe organisation
- Assessingthe health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosedproblems
- Screeningpatients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- Inconsultation with patients and in line with current practice diseasemanagement protocols, developing care plans for health

- Thepost-holder will implement and lead on a full range of promotion andmanagement of their own and others health and safety and infectioncontrol as defined in the practice health & safety policy, thepractice health & safety manual, and the practice infection controlpolicy and published procedures.
- Contributeto the implementation of services applying practice policies, standards,and guidance, discussing with other members of the team how the policies,standards and guidelines will affect your own work and supporting thePractices achievement of QOF requirements by taking appropriate actionsas highlighted and requested.

The post-holder will also support theequality, diversity and rights of patients, carers and colleagues and respectthe strict confidentiality of information provided to them by patients, colleagues,and other professionals.
In addition to maintaining continued educationthrough attendance at any courses and/or study days necessary to ensure thatprofessional development requirements for PREP are met, the postholder willattend training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, whereappropriate.

Experience
- Experience of working to achieve standards within the Quality

Qualifications
- Fully Qualified GP eligible to work in General Practice in the NHS.
- BM / MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
- National Performers List Registration.
- General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal)
- Knowledge of the NHS and understanding of clinical governance.
- Evidence of ability to maintain and monitor high standards of care.
- Evidence of ability to direct and co-ordinate programmes of care working autonomously and collaboratively.
- Clear DBS report.
- Evidence of commitment to ongoing personal & professional development.
- Eligible to independently practice in the United Kingdom.
- Experience of working in a general practice/primary care environment.
