Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain seeks an experienced Group Practice Manager to lead day-to-day operations across a portfolio of GP practices. The role focuses on staffing, governance, complaints handling and ensuring services meet NHS standards and CQC requirements.

Post holders act as the named CQC Registered Manager and work full-time, Monday to Friday, with a strong emphasis on recruitment, team development and service improvement.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent management experience in primary care, healthcare management, business management or related field.
• Significant management experience in general practice, primary care, NHS or healthcare settings.
• Knowledge of NHS primary care systems, processes, structures and contractual requirements.
• Knowledge of CQC regulations and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership across a portfolio of GP practices, covering staff, resources and service delivery.
• Manage performance, sickness absence, annual leave, appraisals and compliance with organisational policies.
• Oversee diary coordination, patient enquiries and complaints.
• Plan rotas to keep staffing safe across practices, working with the rota team.
• Ensure practices deliver safe, effective, patient-focused services under implemented policies and procedures.
• Identify where new or updated operational protocols and procedures are needed.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and retention, and ensure staff understand objectives and service standards.
• Lead and develop practice teams to build a positive, inclusive, high-performing culture.
• Lead operational governance and compliance with policy, statutory requirements and NHS standards.
• Act as the CQC Registered Manager, ensuring regulated activities meet CQC standards.
• Oversee estates, business continuity and service improvement across the portfolio.
