Job summary

Central Medical Centre is seeking a Practice Manager to lead day-to-day operations and staff, in partnership with GP colleagues. The role includes HR, budgeting, governance, and performance oversight, with responsibilities for CQC Registered Manager and Caldicott Guardian duties, subject to registration and approvals.

Experience in primary care or regulated settings is desirable, with strong leadership and communication skills to guide teams and improve services.

Qualifications

• CQC Registered Manager registration and approval.
• Substantial experience managing staff and day-to-day operations in a busy service.
• Experience in recruitment, appraisals, absence management and performance concerns.
• Experience of improving processes and monitoring service performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the practice's day-to-day operations and people management, working with GP partners, team leaders and clinical leads.
• Directly manage non-clinical team leaders and agreed staff groups, with one-to-one meetings and objective reviews.
• Manage recruitment from job descriptions through selection, pre-employment checks and induction.
• Oversee sickness absence, return-to-work meetings and attendance concerns.
• Oversee probation, capability, disciplinary and grievance processes within delegated authority.
• Oversee reception, care navigation, administration, secretarial functions, rotas and cover arrangements.
• Maintain an operational dashboard and drive service improvements with clear owners and deadlines.
• Coordinate complaints handling, with clinical input where required.
• Act as CQC Registered Manager for the regulated activity, subject to registration and approval.
• Act as Caldicott Guardian, advising on the confidential use and sharing of patient information.
• Manage delegated operational expenditure and staffing costs within budgets.
• Liaise with the PCN, ICB, suppliers and external advisers in collaboration with the partners.
