Job summary

Qualifications

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced, values-driven manager to join us as a core member of our leadership team, working closely with the GP partners.

This is a pivotal role. You'll have the space and trust to lead the operational side of the practice, turn strategy into reality, and help shape how the practice develops in the years ahead.

Main Duties of the Job

You’ll be dealing with:

  • Staff/HR queries and support needs

Job Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
  • Working in partnership with the GP partners to deliver the practice’s mission, values, and strategic objectives
  • Providing operational insight to support good decision-making
  • Leading on implementing agreed changes and service developments
  • Contributing to business planning and long‑term sustainability
Practice Operations
  • Leading the day-to-day running of the practice
  • Ensuring services are safe, effective, accessible, and person-centred
  • Overseeing appointment systems, access, demand and capacity
  • Ensuring compliance with NHS contractual requirements
  • Monitoring performance and addressing issues proactively
People & Workforce
  • Leading, supporting, and developing the whole practice team

  • Acting as the lead for:
    • CQC compliance and inspections

  • Ensuring regulatory and contractual assurance
Digital, Innovation & Improvement
  • Overseeing effective use of practice systems
  • Supporting new NHS and digital programmes
  • Leading service improvement and efficiency initiatives

External & Partnership Working
  • Acting as the main operational contact with the PCN, ICB, and other stakeholders
  • Representing the practice professionally at meetings

Person Specification
Qualifications (Desirable)
  • Management qualification (e.g. AMSPAR, ILM, CMI) or equivalent experience
Experience (Essential)
  • Proven leadership and people management skills
  • Confidence with finance, governance, and operational performance
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem‑solving skills
  • A leadership style that reflects partnership working and shared values
  • Strong IT skills, with the ability to work across multiple systems, extract meaningful data, and play an active role in driving digital and technological innovation within the practice.
Experience (Desirable)
  • Experience as a Practice Manager or Deputy Practice Manager in NHS General Practice or Primary Care Setting
  • Strong understanding of GMS/PMS contracts, QOF, and enhanced services
  • Experience working with or alongside a PCN
  • Experience leading or supporting CQC inspections
  • An interest in service development, quality improvement, training, or research
