Job description

HMP Fosse Way opened in May 2023. Its state‑of‑the‑art design and facilities offer a secure environment to provide skills and qualifications to the men, enabling them to secure meaningful employment on release with the aim of reducing reoffending rates.

We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to work up to 4 sessions per week to join the team at HMP Fosse Way. We will consider applications from candidates looking for a full‑time or part‑time role. The salary is up to £129,500 full‑time equivalent depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
  • Deliver first‑class healthcare to a diverse group of patients.
  • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis and make timely decisions regarding future management.
  • Act as a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team and to patients, providing active care.
  • Have involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Experience, skills and qualifications required
  • MBChB or MBBS.
  • Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List.
  • Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal.
  • Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse.
  • RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or willingness to undertake these qualifications.
