As a GPA, youll play a key part in supporting our GPs and the Urgent Care Team, helping us provide a smooth patient journey and maintain high standards of care. The role is ideal for someone who is organised, confident, enjoys working with people, and is keen to develop new skills. Youll be fully supported with in‑house training and clear supervision, ensuring you feel confident in both the clinical and administrative aspects of the role.
Youll also contribute to an important area of our work by supporting the safeguarding team through preparing Section 17 and Section 47 reports, making a meaningful impact on the safety and wellbeing of children and families.

In this varied role, youll provide a combination of administrative and basic clinical support to help keep our services running smoothly. Working closely with our Urgent Care Team, your day may include assisting with same‑day assessments, carrying out simple clinical tasks such as observations, ECGs, urinalysis and phlebotomy (if trained), and helping prepare patients for examinations.
On the administrative side, youll support clinicians by organising routine tasks that keep care flowing efficiently, such as handling clinical documents, coding information into records, arranging follow‑up actions, preparing basic forms, overseeing medical reports, and helping with audits or data searches. Youll also be a key contact for liaising with outside agencies when needed.
A unique and important part of this role includes supporting our safeguarding processes. Youll help prepare accurate, high‑quality Section 17 (Child in Need) and Section 47 (Child Protection) reports by gathering relevant patient information and ensuring timely submission.
Youll always work under supervision and within clear protocols, with the opportunity to develop your skills as the role grows.

TheGeneral Practice Assistant supports GPs and the wider practice team indelivering high‑quality, efficient patient care. The GPA role bridgesadministrative and basic clinical tasks, allowing clinicians to focus more oncomplex patient needs. The post holder works under supervision, followingprotocols and procedures, and contributes to improved patient experience and practiceefficiency.
The General Practice Assistant will support the smooth running ofclinics by performing the more routine administration tasks on behalf of theGP, freeing up their time to focus on the patient. In addition, the postholderwill support the safeguardingprocess by completing Section 47 (child protection) and Section 17 (child inneed) reports as required, ensuring timely, accurate and comprehensiveinformation is shared with local authority childrens services. The GPA mustensure that they work within and recognise their scope of ability, escalatingany concerns to the GP.
The post holder will work closely with the Urgent Care Team tohelp manage high demand periods, support rapid patient assessment, andcontribute to timely care delivery.
This is a developing role for a candidate with a goodknowledge of clinical coding and will include in‑house competency training toensure you are able to undertake the role effectively.
