Job summary

Upham Inns is seeking a General Manager to lead our pubs with hands-on training and a clear focus on guest experience. You will manage operations, drive service standards, and foster a welcoming community environment across our Southern England portfolio, including Upham Inn venues.

You will lead a motivated team, manage health and safety, and uphold brand standards while delivering exceptional hospitality and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Previous GM experience in gastro-style pubs or proven track record in pub/restaurants.
• Consistent leadership to drive guest service at all times.
• Strong leadership to foster effective teamwork aligned with company vision.
• Passionate about hospitality and delivering high standards of service.
• Highly motivated, proactive and reliable.
• Available to work up to 48 hours per week including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
• Financial understanding with P&L, sales and labour budgeting.
• The Right to Work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Oversee pub management in line with procedures and brand standards.
• Lead by example with hands-on training and coaching.
• Engage with local community to develop repeat business and reputation.
• Inspire passion for great food and service culture.
• Ensure health and safety of guests and staff through procedures and assessments.
• Ensure DPS standards comply with license.
• Oversee ordering to match requirements while controlling stock and wastage.
• Prepare team rosters at least 2 weeks in advance in line with labour budgets.
