Job summary

J Lazenby & Son Funeral Directors in Wakefield is seeking an empathetic Funeral Service Specialist (Level One) to lead the branch day to day and guide families through funeral plans with care. This 12-month fixed-term contract covers 19.32 hours per week, with duties ranging from arranging funerals to maintaining compliance and building local relationships.

Training will be provided, and the role offers pension, life assurance and benefits to support colleagues through emotionally challenging

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service, care or admin is beneficial (full training provided).
• Strong communication and organisational skills with attention to detail.
• PC literate with Microsoft Office, Outlook and internal systems.

Responsibilities

• Support families with empathy and professionalism and attention to detail.
• Arrange funerals that meet family wishes while complying with legal requirements.
• Oversee day-to-day branch operations, including administration and presentation.
• Build relationships with suppliers, care homes and local community groups.
• Lead chapel visits as required and assist with ceremonial duties during peak times.
• Raise awareness of funeral plans and contribute to plan sales within the branch.
