Job summary

Maven Group Ltd is recruiting for a Functional Assessor in Wigan. The role involves performing client assessments (telephone, video, or face-to-face) to evaluate how a disability or health condition impacts work capability, for DWP reports.

The position offers hybrid/home working, with a Monday–Friday schedule and a starting salary of £42,000 per year, rising to £46,000 after 12 months following training and DWP approval.

Qualifications

• NMC/HCPC eligible registration required.
• 1+ year post-registration experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient IT skills and comfortable with digital platforms.
• Able to work with diverse conditions including mental health.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ~5 client assessments per day via telephone, video or face-to-face.
• Prepare factual reports to support DWP benefit decisions.
• Engage with clients to understand how health affects work capability.

What is on offer as a Functional Assessor?

• Excellent starting salary at £42,000pa
• Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm working hours
• Full time and part time available (3, 4 or 5 days per week available)

£4,000 performance related salary uplift to £46,000pa after 12 months following training and DWP Functional Assessor approval.

What does the Functional Assessor role involve?

The Functional Assessor role will involve you carrying out 5 client assessments per day. A typical day will see you carry out telephone, video or face-to-face assessments to understand how a person's disability or health condition affects their working capability. You’ll listen to their experiences, ask questions and use your insights to produce a factual report to help the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) determine their eligibility for benefits. That's the good news; the DWP make the final decision, you don't. Your role is to gather information and produce the report.

What we look for;

• An NMC registered nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD) or HCPC qualified Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Occupational Therapist with 1 year’s or more broad post-registration experience
• Someone who’s proactive and keen to learn
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Competent IT and computer skills
• Comfortable working with a diverse range of conditions, including mental health
