Overview

Full-Time SEND Teacher - Residential Care Setting

Location: Liverpool (L17 & L34 - two sites)

Age Range: 10-18 years

Contract Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Perm (Permanent after 12 weeks)

Start Date: ASAP

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and resilient SEND Teacher to join our dedicated team across two residential care settings in Liverpool. Working with children and young people aged 10-18 who are in care and have a range of special educational needs, you will deliver core subjects and cross-curricular learning while providing strong pastoral support and behaviour management.

This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact in a therapeutic and nurturing environment where education is tailored to meet the individual needs of each learner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons across core subjects (English, Maths, Science) and cross-curricular themes

  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of pupils with SEMH, ASD, and other complex needs

  • Build trusting relationships with students and support their emotional and social development

  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies in line with trauma-informed practice

  • Work collaboratively with residential staff, therapists, and external agencies

  • Track progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and educational planning

Essential Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)

  • Experience teaching pupils with SEND, particularly SEMH, ASD, and complex needs

  • Strong behaviour management skills and a pastoral approach to teaching

  • Ability to adapt teaching to suit individual learning styles and emotional needs

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable young people
