Carlisle Support Service is hiring for a Freight Safety & Securing Operative to work on-site at the Eurotunnel terminal. You will ensure vehicle security and assist passengers from arrival to departure, with shifts across a 24/7 period within a fast-paced transport environment.

The role emphasizes customer service, safety checks, and close teamwork in a high-traffic setting. A full UK driving licence is desirable, and DBS/background checks will be required.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and a friendly, approachable manner.
• Confident verbal and written communication.
• Physical fitness for manual tasks and on-your-feet work.
• High attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Full UK driving licence (desirable).
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a 5-year checkable employment/education history.
• Eligible to work in the UK and pass UK DBS/background checks.

Responsibilities

• Vehicle securing: apply and remove wheel chocks to HGVs boarding the shuttle.
• Safety inspections: conduct pre- and post-journey checks on freight vehicles and trains.
• Customer support: greet drivers and passengers, provide clear instructions, assist with their journey.
• Team collaboration: work with colleagues in a safety-critical, high-traffic setting.
• On-site driving: operate company vehicles within the terminal as required.
