About the role: Foundation Tutor

We are looking for enthusiastic and inspiring foundation teacher to join our Lifeskills faculty based in at our Merrist Wood campus. The Lifeskills team work to support learners who face barriers to education, including learners with special educational needs, as well as those learners who need support with the transition back into education and/or building their skills and knowledge in preparation for their continued educational journey.

You’ll be teaching 16-19 learners a range of subjects at foundation level with various vocational pathway sessions.

This post provides an excellent opportunity for a teacher with passion and drive who is committed to enabling our students to unlock their potential and switch on to the power of learning.

This is a fixed-term position to cover maternity leave, working 14 hours per week (0.38 FTE) and based at Merrist Wood College. The working pattern is Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm. The fixed-term contract will run until July 2026.

What do you need to be a successful Foundation Tutor at Activate Learning?

We are looking for people who can act as role models for our students and ensure that they leave us with not just their professional qualifications, but the attributes required to progress in the world of work. A genuine interest in working with and developing young people is a requirement.

Successful candidates will have experience in teaching GCSE Maths, English, Business and Project Based Learning activities and the ability to nurture and support young adults with a variety of needs. Experience teaching Business would be highly desirable, but is not essential. Applicants should also feel confident and comfortable teaching GCSE English as part of their role.

Whilst previous teaching experience or qualification would be an advantage, it is not a requirement. As long as you have the industry experience and demonstrate the attributes to be an inspirational teacher, we can provide you with the necessary training, development and support to equip you to teach in the FE sector.
