Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Leeds is seeking a Sensor Actuator Assurance Engineer to develop and maintain methods to verify sensors and actuators used in PU control systems, supporting both laboratory and track operations to ensure performance and safety.

You will design test methods, implement protective handling procedures, and document nondestructive evaluations. You will collaborate with Data Analysis, PLM, and suppliers to improve reliability across the fleet.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Eng or related field.
• 3+ years of electronics experience in motorsport/high-performance.
• Experience managing mission-critical devices.
• Strong understanding of sensor/actuator physics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with MATLAB and statistics tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop test methods and procedures aligned with manufacturer recommendations and standards to assess sensor/actuator reliability and accuracy.
• Design protective storage and handling/installation procedures to preserve device integrity.
• Create nondestructive evaluation methods and maintain complete records.
• Collaborate with Data Analysis and PLM teams to relate usage with reliability and mileage limits.
• Support sensor/actuator selection with Electronics Systems Engineering and PU Design.
• Execute assurance testing; document results and produce fleet statistical reports.
• Engage suppliers on performance issues and supply chain concerns as needed.
