Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEND college in Northfield, Birmingham. The role involves supporting 18- to 25-year-old students with severe learning disabilities and physical needs both in class and during community activities.

The successful candidate will work closely with staff to meet learning, personal care and mobility needs while maintaining a safe, positive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young adults with severe learning disabilities and physical needs.
• Caring, patient and positive approach to supporting students with additional needs.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• DBS check through Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
• Genuine passion for helping young people reach their potential.

Responsibilities

• Support students in the classroom and during community-based activities.
• Assist with personal care and mobility needs as required.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to meet individual learning goals.
• Maintain a safe, positive and engaging learning environment.
