Job summary

Rutland County Council is seeking a Library and Community Access Worker (Casual) to support customers across four Rutland Living Well Libraries. The role covers shelving, stock handling, signposting, and helping with events and displays.

You will travel between sites and work ad hoc hours to cover holidays and sickness. The role requires GCSE English and Maths, experience in libraries or customer service, and confidence with Windows, Outlook, Word and Excel.

Qualifications

Educated to GCSE level in English and Maths.
Have experience in libraries, information, customer service or a similar community-focused environment.
Confident using IT and everyday digital tools, including Windows, Outlook, Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

Welcome and support customers, helping with library, IT, reading, learning and membership enquiries, and signposting to relevant services.
Support the day-to-day running of our libraries, including shelving, handling and repairing stock, deliveries, records and basic building duties.
Help create welcoming and engaging library spaces, supporting displays, activities and events for our communities.
Use our library management system to record and retrieve information (full training will be provided).
