Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a Behaviour Mentor to support pupils who may present challenging behaviour, helping them engage with learning and school life. You will work 1:1 or in small groups with pupils with social, emotional or behavioural needs, and de-escalate incidents using restorative approaches where appropriate.

You'll collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams and SENCOs to implement effective behaviour strategies, model positive behaviour, and build trusting relationships.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs in education, youth work, or care settings.
• Calm, confident, and positive under pressure with strong communication.
• Proactive, empathetic, and firm‑but‑fair approach to behaviour management.
• DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Working 1:1 or in small groups with pupils with social, emotional or behavioural needs
• De-escalating incidents calmly and professionally, using restorative approaches where appropriate
• Supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing and personal development
• Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SENCOs to implement behaviour strategies
• Modelling positive behaviour and building trusting relationships with young people
