Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment seeks a Behaviour Mentor in Stockport to support pupils in a secondary school setting. The role involves 1:1 and small-group mentoring, building positive relationships, and helping students regulate behaviour and engage with learning.

You will work with teachers and pastoral staff to promote calm, constructive changes, support attendance, and develop pupils’ confidence and resilience in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with behaviour or SEMH needs.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience in secondary schools or youth work is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group mentoring and support
• Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
• Supporting students to regulate their emotions and manage challenging situations
• Helping pupils understand and make positive changes to their behaviour
• Encouraging engagement with learning and improving attendance
• Supporting pupils who may be at risk of disengaging from education
• Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff and the wider school team
• Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence
• De-escalating challenging situations in a calm and professional manner
• Promoting positive behaviour and maintaining clear boundaries
