Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. in Walsall is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to support pupils with behavioural and pastoral needs in a Good-rated secondary school. You will build trust, guide students to regulate behaviour, and promote inclusive learning within a supportive team.

The role involves mentoring individuals and small groups, collaborating with teachers and safeguarding colleagues to ensure a safe, positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people, ideally within a secondary school, education, youth work or pastoral setting.
• Calm, consistent and positive approach to managing challenging behaviour.
• Ability to establish strong professional relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
• Resilience, patience and ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with safeguarding teams.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group mentoring for students requiring behavioural or pastoral support.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with students and acting as a consistent and positive role model.
• Supporting students to understand and manage their behaviour and make positive choices.
• Helping students develop confidence, resilience, emotional regulation and social skills.
• Supporting students to re-engage with learning after behavioural incidents or periods of difficulty.
• Working alongside teaching and pastoral staff to implement individual behaviour and support strategies.
