Job description

Calderdale Council are looking to recruit a committed Fire Risk Assessor to join our small, dedicated team of Health and Safety professionals. If you seek a role which is both varied and rewarding, this job is perfect for you.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for supporting the provision of a high-quality, effective, efficient, commercially aware, and customer focused Health and Safety service across the borough promoting the creation of a healthy, safe, sustainable, and more accessible built environment for the wellbeing of our customers and the community.

The successful candidate will act for all services of the authority as the competent person in accordance with Article 18 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 in all matters of fire safety, providing prompt and competent advice at all levels of Calderdale Council, including Council maintained schools.

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining and promoting a positive and legally compliant fire safety culture, ensuring fire safety risks and associated actions are recorded, tracked, managed and mitigated in accordance with current legislation.

The post holder must be competent to deliver the aspiration of the Councils overarching health and safety policy, and supplementary fire safety policy, and take the local authority in the direction required. The post holder should act as the professional officer in all fire safety matters, looking after the interest of employees, asset protection, and to protect the Councils legal, moral, financial and reputational risks.

Qualifications

Applications will be considered from those who hold a Level 4 fire safety certificate as a minimum standard and are registered with a recognised professional fire safety body. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate a broad range of technical knowledge and experience in all aspects of fire safety risk management.

Salary

Starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience.
