In tax consulting and advising at PwC, you will focus on offering consulting and advisory services to clients on various tax matters. You will provide advice and guidance on tax planning, compliance, and strategy, helping businesses optimise their tax positions and navigate complex tax regulations.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager to join our rapidly growing FinTech and Payments Tax practice, with a pathway to progress to Tax Director. Based within PwC's Financial Services Tax team, this strategic role is designed to address immediate delivery capacity gaps while strengthening our long-term leadership pipeline.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading delivery on direct tax projects and complex client engagements.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships across high-growth FinTech businesses and established financial institutions.
  • Driving business development to capture tax opportunities in a high-growth market with a significant cross-sell potential across PwC (e.g. deals, transformation, legal, Execution Managed Services).
Client Engagement and Advisory
  • Lead and manage delivery of tax advisory services for a diverse client base including scale-ups, multinational enterprises, and listed businesses.
  • Provide forward-thinking tax advice on growth, international expansion, M&A, and exit strategies.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for clients, ensuring exceptional client service and proactive support.
Technical Expertise
  • Stay abreast of changes in tax legislation and regulatory developments relevant to the FinTech and broader Financial Services sector, both in the UK and globally.
  • Interpret and apply complex tax laws and regulations to provide clear, practical advice that aligns with clients' business objectives.
  • Contribute to thought leadership and internal knowledge sharing on FinTech tax matters.
  • Develop a broad awareness of the tax areas impacting FinTech clients including corporation tax, VAT, employment taxes, share incentive arrangements, R&D and transfer pricing.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals, fostering an inclusive and high-performing culture.
  • Oversee the work of team members, ensuring quality control and compliance with PwC's standards and methodologies.
  • Support the recruitment, training, and professional development of team members.
Business Development
  • Identify new business opportunities within the FinTech sector and collaborate with other tax teams and service lines to cross-sell services.
  • Participate in and lead proposals and pitches to prospective clients.
  • Represent PwC at industry events, seminars, and networking functions to enhance the firm's profile in the FinTech space.
Risk Management
  • Ensure all engagements are conducted in accordance with PwC's risk management protocols and ethical standards.
  • Manage engagement economics, including budgeting, billing, and collection processes.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Professional tax qualification (e.g., CTA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Significant post-qualification experience in tax, with a focus on the financial services and/or technology sectors.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering complex tax projects.
  • Experience of working with or in the FinTech industry.
