Field Service Engineer

We're looking for a Field Service Engineer who thrives on problem-solving, takes pride in quality workmanship, and enjoys the variety of working both on-site and in-house. Most importantly, we’re after someone with the right mindset and skill set to hit the ground running.

HQ: Bedford, travelling nationally

Salary: £42,000, rising to £44,000 post probation

ACR are working exclusively with a heavy goods engineering firm recognised worldwide as a leader in their specialism. The business has a team of field service engineers who work nationally and report into a Bedford HQ for meetings and training.

Responsibilities
  • Carrying out planned maintenance and fault-finding on high-spec industrial equipment
  • Working with PLC-controlled systems and remote diagnostics
  • Performing repairs, remedial works, and supporting R&D tasks
  • Collaborating with a nationwide team while managing your own workload
  • Travelling across the UK, with occasional nights away and potential training in Germany
Qualifications
  • A solid background in electrical and mechanical engineering
  • Diagnostic experience desirable
  • Ideally experience of working on heavy plant machinery such as excavators, diggers, concrete mixers, tractors etc.
  • Exposure to CANbus systems and remote-control diagnostics is desirable.
  • An apprenticeship or equivalent formal qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ, etc.)
  • Someone self-motivated, safety-conscious, and comfortable working independently
