Job summary

Carrington West seeks a Waste Operations Manager to lead teams across Leicestershire HWRCs and transfer stations. The role is field-based with travel between sites, requiring strong leadership and knowledge of waste operations, health and safety, and regulatory compliance.

The role involves coordinating recruitment, training, and performance, plus ensuring safe, compliant service delivery and effective stakeholder engagement. Some home working may be possible occasionaly.

Qualifications

• Experience managing waste operations across HWRCs/WTS or similar.
• Proven line management experience with operatives and supervisors.
• Knowledge of waste legislation, compliance and safe systems of work.
• Experience delivering training and toolbox talks.

Responsibilities

• Manage operatives, supervisors, and waste teams across multiple sites.
• Coordinate recruitment, inductions, training and development.
• Conduct investigations, performance reviews and line management.
• Deliver training programmes, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Develop and enforce safe systems of work and risk assessments.
• Ensure waste movements and documentation meet regulatory requirements.
• Support quality management across HWRCs and related sites.
• Oversee stock control of PPE, equipment, and consumables.
• Handle customer complaints professionally via multiple channels.
• Maintain health, safety, environmental and operational standards.
