Job summary

Leicestershire County Council in Leicester invites applications for a Senior Waste Operations & Contracts Management Officer to lead on the management of Recycling & Household Waste Sites (RHWS) and Waste Transfer Stations (WTS) on-site operations.

You will develop waste operational projects, deliver recycling and treatment services, and manage budgets while procuring contracts, with a strong emphasis on compliance, safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant degree in waste management, contract management or procurement.
• Be a COTC or willing to work towards it and be a CIWM member or willing to work towards membership.
• Experience with budgets, project delivery and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead on development and delivery of waste operational projects and improvements.
• Develop and deliver recycling and treatment services.
• Develop and deliver savings initiatives including income generation.
• Monitor and manage budgets and procure and operate related contracts.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation at RHWS and WTS sites.
• Oversee site provision of operational equipment, security systems and maintenance.
• Support Waste Management Delivery teams and Team Manager as required.
