Overview

Team LeaderWe are looking for a Team Leader who has excellent organisational skills and a strong understanding of autism. The role is to assist us with setting up and managing a team of staff to support an individual who likes to be active and creative. This person is autistic and wheelchair user and requires support from staff that value honesty and respect. Ideally this individual will have 2 years' experience at Team leader level, or relevant managerial or life experience. They need to be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills to assist with day-to-day management of appointments etc. The team will need staff that work with someone, not over them, and to be part of a team that values clear communication, mutual respect, and practical care.

Responsibilities
  • Help set up and manage a team of staff to support an individual who is autistic and uses a wheelchair.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational skills for day-to-day management of appointments and activities.
  • Work with the individual in a person-centred way, valuing honesty, respect, clear communication and mutual respect.
  • Lead a team that works with the person, not over them, and that is proactive and responsive to daily needs and changes.
  • Be fully engaged in the role, proactive and attentive, and able to problem solve as situations arise.
  • Support all aspects of life including cooking, activities, and life skills, while respecting the individual’s space, belongings, and autonomy.
  • Bring emotional resilience and appropriate life experience to conversations and sensitive needs.
  • Be calm, observant, and able to help manage triggers before they become an issue.
  • Understand that quality of life may take priority over total independence and adapt as needs vary day to day.
  • Seek to support the person in living a fulfilling, self-directed life and contribute to a positive working relationship.
Qualifications
  • Ideally 2 years' experience at Team Leader level, or relevant managerial or life experience.
  • Willing and able to support all aspects of life including cooking, activities, and life skills.
  • Proactive, independent, and capable of taking initiative without prompting.
  • Must be female team leaders who are car owners and willing to use a car for work with mileage paid.
  • Strong communication skills, reliability, and a compassionate, person-centred approach.
