Job summary

Skipton Girls' High School is seeking a reliable, proactive Caretaker to join our Facilities Team. This part-time role supports the smooth running of the school site, ensuring it remains safe, clean and well-maintained for pupils, staff and visitors.

Hours are 27 hours per week across all year, with shifts from 2:30pm to 8:00pm on Monday and 2:00pm to 8:00pm Tuesday to Friday (30-minute break). Responsibilities include opening/locking, routine inspections, minor repairs, health and safety

Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school site in line with procedures.
• Carrying out routine inspections of buildings and grounds for safety and upkeep.
• Undertaking minor repairs and general caretaking tasks across the site.
• Identifying and reporting maintenance issues, defects and health and safety concerns.
• Supporting cleanliness and presentation of school buildings and external areas.
• Assisting with health and safety checks including fire safety inspections.
• Setting up rooms, furniture and equipment for meetings, events and exams.
• Monitoring contractors on site and ensuring compliance with procedures.
• Assisting with site security, responding to alarms and emergencies.
• Ensuring pathways and entrances remain safe and accessible.
• Monitoring stock levels of site supplies and arranging replenishment.
