Job summary

Our client, a supportive secondary school in Somerset, seeks a reliable School Caretaker to join the site team on a full-time, permanent basis. You will maintain a safe, clean, and well-presented site and help with event setups and routine repairs.

The role requires opening/closing duties, attention to health & safety, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Right to work in the UK is required.

Qualifications

• Previous caretaker, site assistant, or maintenance experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance and health & safety.
• Hands-on, practical approach with good problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Opening and closing the school site daily.
• Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks.
• Ensuring health and safety standards are met across the premises.
• Monitoring site security, including alarms and access control.
• Assisting with setting up rooms for events and activities.
• Liaising with external contractors when required.
