Job summary

Greatwood Community Primary School is seeking a reliable and proactive part-time caretaker to join our Facilities Team. The role covers 25 hours per week, 7.00am–12.00pm, all year round, to keep the site safe, secure, clean and well-maintained for pupils and staff.

You will work with colleagues across the school to create a welcoming environment for learning and events. An enhanced DBS check is required, with safeguarding at the core of duties.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS check required and safeguarding commitment.
• Reliable, proactive, and enthusiastic caretaker to support the smooth running of the school site.

Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school site in accordance with procedures.
• Carrying out routine inspections of buildings and grounds to ensure safety and upkeep.
• Undertaking minor repairs, maintenance tasks and general caretaking duties.
• Identifying and reporting maintenance issues, defects and health & safety concerns.
• Supporting cleanliness and presentation of the school buildings and external areas.
• Assisting with health and safety checks, including fire safety and security inspections.
• Setting up rooms, furniture and equipment for meetings, events and examinations.
• Monitoring contractors on site and ensuring compliance with procedures.
• Assisting with site security, including responding to alarms and emergencies where required.
• Ensuring pathways, entrances and outdoor areas are kept safe and accessible.
• Monitoring stock levels of site supplies and reporting replenishment needs.
• Working flexibly to support the operational needs of the school.
