Job summary

Belmont Recruitment is seeking a proactive School Caretaker for a secondary school in Longridge. You will help ensure safety, security, and the upkeep of our premises, support a clean and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

You will conduct inspections, perform routine cleaning, coordinate minor repairs with contractors, and maintain doors, lighting, heating, and CCTV/alarm systems to keep the school safe and functional.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance, facilities management or caretaking roles.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to school environments.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, climbing ladders, and using basic tools.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in inspections and record keeping.
• Good communication skills to liaise with staff, contractors and emergency services.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections of school buildings and grounds to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards.
• Carry out routine cleaning duties to maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the premises.
• Perform minor repairs or coordinate with external contractors for more complex maintenance tasks.
• Ensure doors, windows, lighting, heating and ventilation systems function correctly and securely.
• Manage security systems, including CCTV cameras and alarm systems, to safeguard the school environment.
• Respond promptly to emergencies such as leaks, electrical faults or security breaches.
• Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, safety checks and incident reports for compliance.
