Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning, handyman activities, routine maintenance and refurbishment, porterage, and minor repairs.
• Promote health and safety around the school.
• Liaise with external contractors and manage site use and development planning.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance and health and safety.
• Carry out porterage duties and move furniture/equipment.
• Maintain premises, furniture and fittings, report issues.
• Carry out small repairs and DIY projects.
• Regularly check oil levels.
• Carry out daily cleaning and ad-hoc tasks such as litter removal and waste disposal.
• Plan annual deep cleans of classrooms and staff areas.
• Maintain cleaning tools and stock levels.
• Manage school premises security as main key holder.
• Unlock premises out of hours when required.
• Check CCTV/alarm systems and perimeter security; arrange repairs.
• Advise headteacher on security and safety matters.
• Conduct health and safety checks and report hazards.
• Provide safe access to the school in cold weather.
• Ensure staff follow safety procedures; monitor contractors for safe work.
