We are seeking a practical, organised and customer-focused Facilities Assistant to join our Estates and Facilities team. This key frontline role plays an important part in ensuring Uttlesford District Council’s buildings, meeting spaces and facilities are safe, welcoming, well-maintained and fully prepared for use by staff, visitors, hirers and the wider community.
As a Facilities Assistant, you will support the smooth day-to-day operation of our civic and conference venues. Responsibilities will include setting up meeting and event spaces, arranging refreshments, liaising with hirers, contractors and suppliers, maintaining records, and assisting with health and safety processes. You will also carry out routine inspections, manage stock levels, undertake basic administrative tasks, and safely move furniture and equipment as required.
We are looking for someone who is dependable, proactive and highly organised, with a flexible approach and a strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service. You will thrive in a busy facilities environment, be able to balance competing priorities effectively, and be willing to learn new systems, procedures and ways of working.
The successful candidate will have good IT skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records. Previous experience in a facilities, building services or customer-facing role would be advantageous. A full UK driving licence is essential due to the operational requirements of the position.
