Job summary

Empowering Learning Ltd in Sunderland is seeking an EYFS Qualified Teaching Assistant to support early years education and care in private day nurseries. You will assist with planning, providing engaging activities and monitoring development.

The role requires Level 2/3 EYFS qualification, nursery experience, and a strong understanding of the EYFS framework. DBS checks, references, and a caring, proactive approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years / Childcare qualification is ESSENTIAL.
• Previous experience working in a nursery, pre-school or Reception setting.
• Good understanding of the EYFS framework and child development.
• Caring, patient and proactive approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and children’s welfare.
• Comfortable assisting with personal care, including nappy changing.
• DBS on Update Service or willing to obtain one.
• Able to provide professional references covering last 2 years of work/education history.
• Reliable, committed and able to work in a busy Early Years team.

Responsibilities

• Support practitioners and teachers in delivering high-quality early years education and care.
• Help plan and deliver fun, engaging, play-based activities.
• Support children's individual learning and development needs.
• Encourage confidence, independence and social skills.
• Observe and record children’s progress in line with EYFS.
• Create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment.
• Build positive relationships with children, colleagues and families.
• Assist with everyday personal care, including nappy changing.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety and nursery policies.
