Job summary

Empowering Learning is recruiting an EYFS Qualified Teaching Assistant for roles in the Jesmond/Newcastle area, offering temporary/contract work with daily pay. The role focuses on supporting early years education, play-based activities, and child development, while ensuring safeguarding and a nurturing environment.

Candidates should have Level 2/3 EYFS qualifications, nursery experience, and strong teamwork and communication skills to thrive in busy nursery settings.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years / Childcare qualification is essential.
• Experience in nursery, pre-school or Reception setting.
• Strong EYFS knowledge and child development understanding.
• Caring, patient and proactive approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Safeguarding and children's welfare understanding.

Responsibilities

• Support practitioners and teachers in providing high-quality early years education and care.
• Help plan and deliver fun, engaging and play-based activities.
• Support children's individual learning and development needs.
• Encourage children to develop confidence, independence and social skills.
• Observe and record children's progress in line with the EYFS framework.
• Create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment.
• Build positive relationships with children, colleagues and families.
• Support with everyday personal care, including nappy changing.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety and nursery policies.
