Salary: £41,771 - £45,091 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

Job Role:

This post forms part of the Council’s Housing Enforcement Team.

Under the Housing Act2004, the Local Authority has a duty to ensure that private sector housing meets minimum standards.

This role plays a vital part in supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community, ensuring they have access to safe and adequate housing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigating housing complaints and undertaking enforcement action.
  • Assessing and licensing Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and caravan sites.
  • Conducting inspections to identify disrepair and housing hazards.
  • Taking formal enforcement action to ensure compliance with housing legislation.
What We’re Looking For:
  • A relevant Degree in Environmental Health.
  • A solid understanding of housing legislation, guidance, and the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
  • Strong communication and organisational skills to manage a diverse and demanding caseload.
  • A commitment to delivering high standards of customer service.
  • Strong background in Housing Enforcement - the service of notices, Civil penalties and Prosecution work.

Training and support will be provided to help you develop your expertise and confidence in the role.
