Job summary

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust seeks an entry level Mechanical/Facilities Maintenance role within the Estates team to carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on mechanical services, plant and equipment. The role includes further training to support a range of hospital systems and installations.

Qualifications

• CPD, short courses and self study are expected.
• Thorough knowledge of electrical and mechanical building services, techniques and standards.
• Understanding of health & safety legislation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical and electrical installations.
• Diagnose and repair faults on complex mechanical and electrical systems.
• Maintain and operate hospital mechanical systems including heating, water, generators, lighting and ventilation.
• Manufacture, install and commission new work to standard within set timescales.
• Carry out repairs and maintenance across other trades where needed.
• Maintain water system inspections and records per policy.
• Use relevant test equipment to verify systems.
• Interpret engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Plan and manage daily work orders from Supervisors.
