Job summary

University Hospitals of Northamptonshire is seeking an experienced Estates Engineer to maintain and repair complex mechanical and electrical systems across the hospital estate. You will handle reactive and planned maintenance, optimise safety, and support critical services while working to reduce carbon footprint.

The role requires an apprenticeship plus BS 7671 knowledge, with on-call duties and potential cross-site work. A strong safety focus and mentoring responsibilities are expected.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
• NVQ Level 3 in mechanical or electrical.
• BS 7671 Update knowledge.
• HNC in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Authorised Persons course and validation.
• Knowledge of HTM standards.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair faults on a wide range of equipment and systems.
• Promote responsiveness, ownership and customer care in the team.
• Maintain emergency/contingency systems to support hospital operations.
• Instruct others on features and related work.
• Perform maintenance and other maintenance disciplines as required.
• Be available for additional hours and on-call rota cover.
• Use permits to works, risk assessments, orders and documentation accurately.
• Communicate complex technical issues clearly to staff and contractors.
