Job summary

Mersey West Lancashire NHS Trust is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join the Estates team on a full-time, permanent basis. The role focuses on reactive and planned maintenance of hospital plant and building services to ensure statutory compliance and high standards.

You will work across Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals, participate in on-call duties, and support a customer-focused service. Relevant NVQ/ apprenticeship and building services experience are required.

Qualifications

• Mechanical / Electrical apprenticeship
• H.N.C. or equivalent in a relevant discipline
• Relevant experience in a maintenance / building services environment
• Logical fault-finding methodology

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance duties to support a customer focused estate maintenance service for the Trust.
• Service, test, diagnose and repair mechanical/electrical building services equipment.
• Be part of the on-call rota and act as first point of contact for out-of-hours incidents.
• Carry out fault diagnostics and repairs with appropriate tools and safety procedures.

Skills

NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering

Craft apprenticeship completed

Experience in hospital maintenance

Education

H.N.C. or equivalent in a relevant discipline
