Job summary

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Craftsperson to join our Estates team on a permanent basis. The role suits a confident, hardworking individual looking to gain experience in a hospital setting.

The post requires skills in maintenance, fault finding, and test and repair across engineering and plumbing services. A time-served apprenticeship or equivalent is preferred, as is a Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to work on-call.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent in plumbing or engineering
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and technical guidance
• Ability to work unsupervised in varied technical environments while complying with Health and Safety/environmental regulations
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Willingness to participate in outside normal hours on-call rota
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical and/or plumbing systems

Responsibilities

• Undertake reactive and emergency repairs, alterations and general maintenance to building infrastructure using specialist knowledge of engineering and/or plumbing equipment and infrastructure
• Liaise with Planning and Scheduling Manager and/or Estates Officer regarding repairs and to request materials
• Construct, assemble, erect, and install minor works for upgrades and alterations to assist maintenance and development of services with emphasis on safety
• Arrange transport of equipment, materials, and tools from workshop/stores to the work site identified by supervisor
• Work in areas such as operating theatres, mortuaries, laboratories or patient diagnostic areas adhering to local policies in clinical environments
