Job summary

Novus is recruiting an English Teacher for HMP Frankland to deliver GCSE and Functional Skills English. The role is permanent, part-time (29.6 hours/week) within a high-security prison education setting.

Applicants should hold a teaching qualification with a plan to obtain any outstanding qualification within 12 months, plus a Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy. DBS check and safeguarding compliance are required.

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Frankland, working as an English Teacher. This role is offered on a permanent, part-time basis, working 29.6 hours per week.

Site Information

HMP Frankland is a high-security prison located in Durham, forming part of the Tees & Wear region. It plays a vital role in the UK's custodial system, housing Category A and B prisoners. The establishment is recognised for its structured and secure environment, with a strong focus on rehabilitation and education.

Role Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver GCSE & Functional Skills English to learners and also to provide cover across the department when required. Skills, Qualifications and Experience

• Hold a teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months.
• Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
• Have experience in creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
• Have previous track record showing achievement of quality targets
• Have successfully produced accurate and timely reports
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Can motivate and enthuse learners
• Have organisational skills to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and targets
• Demonstrate positive team working
