Job summary

Novus, the prison education provider at HMP Northumberland, invites applications for a part-time Employability Teacher to deliver engaging lessons and inspire learners. This role focuses on shaping the workforce of tomorrow within a secure environment and offers a meaningful contribution to rehabilitation and education in custody.

Working 14.8 hours per week, the role requires teaching qualification and a commitment to obtaining the outstanding qualification within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Hold a teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
• Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
• Have experience in creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
• Have previous track record showing achievement of quality targets

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Northumberland working as a Business Teacher. This role is offered on a permanent, part-time basis, working 14.8 hours per week.

Site Information

HMP Northumberland is a Category C men's prison, located in Morpeth near the village of Acklington in Northumberland, England. The teams' aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe, and where causes of prison stress are minimised. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:
