Job description
English Teacher - SEND School - January 2026

A well‑resourced and forward‑thinking SEND school is seeking an English Teacher to join the team from January on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a school with outstanding facilities, excellent access to specialist resources and a leadership team that always puts the needs of children first.

The students have a primary diagnosis of autism and moderate learning needs. As the English Teacher, you will be delivering creative, engaging and accessible lessons that inspire confidence, communication and a love of learning. Class sizes are small, and you will be supported by experienced Teaching Assistants and a strong pastoral and therapeutic team. This role requires a QTS or QTLS English teacher and is not suitable for an ECT.

Role Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver English lessons that are differentiated and engaging
  • Teach small groups of students with autism and moderate learning needs
  • Create a calm, structured and positive classroom environment
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants and the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Track progress and adapt learning to meet individual needs
  • Encourage independence, confidence and personal development
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching students with SEND, or a passion for SEND education is desirable
  • Ability to differentiate learning and support varied communication needs
  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach to teaching
  • Strong teamwork, resilience and communication skills
