Engineering Stores Supervisor

Location: Chatham, Kent

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000

Alexander Steele are supporting a Global manufacturing business who are seeking an Engineering Stores Supervisor to manage and optimise the stores function, ensuring efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of materials. This role is key to maintaining accurate inventory, supporting maintenance programmes, and driving continuous improvement across stores processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily stores operations, ensuring accurate stock movements and safe, organised storage.
  • Manage receipt, booking-in, and labelling of deliveries with correct documentation.
  • Maintain stock accuracy through cycle counts, stocktakes, and system reconciliations.
  • Control reordering of stock and coordinate purchasing for maintenance tasks.
  • Lead and support junior team members, promoting efficiency and compliance.
  • Generate reports on stock performance, purchase orders, and reconciliation accuracy.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Production, Procurement, Quality) to meet operational needs.
  • Identify and implement improvements to storage systems and inventory accuracy.
  • Support audits, compliance checks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure Health & Safety standards are met and elevate issues promptly.
Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in stores or inventory coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of stock control, receipt, storage, and dispatch processes.
  • Computer literate with experience in CMMS or stock management systems.
