Overview

JBT currently has a great opportunity for an Engineering Operations Manager to join the ACS Team in Sutton Weaver. Your role based in Sutton Weaver will be to support significant client demand and strategic partnerships for our AutoCoding portfolio. We need to grow the structure within our project engineering team.

The day-to-day duties will include managing customer communications, leading project activities and planning across various projects, managing supplier relationships, and assessing team skills and training needs. The role will also involve onboarding new employees, recruiting a replacement field engineer, and visiting customer sites to determine solutions for projects. This may include installation of software, hardware, and system components throughout the UK, Europe, and potentially the USA and other parts of the world.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  1. Oversee onboarding of new projects and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  2. Create and communicate project plans to clients and the engineering team, ensuring projects stay within budget.
  3. Manage the onboarding of new planning functions to delegate daily duties effectively.
  4. Recruit and onboard a replacement field engineer.
  5. Ensure quality standards and safe working practices are maintained and improved.
  6. Manage key supplier relationships and supply chain requirements.
  7. Conduct reviews with engineers for skill development and issue resolution.
  8. Collaborate with teams to understand new business initiatives and prepare the team accordingly.
  9. Lead projects at site level when necessary to facilitate knowledge transfer.
  10. Act as the second-line escalation point for customer challenges on projects.
  11. Monitor budgets and discuss variances as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience managing service/project teams.
  • Hands-on project management experience.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 in a relevant electrical discipline.
  • Mechanical skills and experience.
  • Willingness to learn proprietary and third-party software systems.
  • Training skills for end-users and project teams.
  • Full UK passport and UK driving license.
  • Preferred but not required: experience with Microsoft SQL tools, industrial communication protocols, project management methodologies like Prince2 and Agile, PLC skills, TCP/IP networks, vision devices, and knowledge of additional languages such as German, Spanish, or French.
