Job summary

GitLab Inc. is seeking a leader to head the Build team within GitLab Delivery, owning strategy, execution, and operational excellence of systems that translate source code into secure, verified artifacts for Self-Managed and other targets.

You will drive the build platform foundations, enabling faster, self-service delivery while ensuring reliability for customers to install and operate.

Qualifications

• Proven track record building and owning large-scale distributed services.
• Experience driving operational excellence with high-availability services (99.99%+ SLOs).
• Experience leveraging AI tooling to boost team productivity.
• History of building and managing high-performing, accountable teams.
• Comfort leading complex projects without a dedicated TPM.
• Experience leading distributed and remote teams effectively.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Build team roadmap across the build platform.
• Own delivery of distributable artifacts (packages, container images, cloud images).
• Drive a build-once, deploy-everywhere model across targets.
• Lead centralized dependency management and updates.
• Ensure supply chain security through SBOMs and vetted dependencies.
• Create self-service onboarding with CI templates and docs.
• Improve build quality via unified environments and validation.
• Establish observability with dashboards and metrics for pipelines.
