Job summary

GitLab is hiring for a Backend Engineer on the Pipeline Authoring team. You will help mature the Catalog and Component functionality, improve performance and security, and ensure a smooth, scalable CI/CD experience across GitLab's platform.

You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers in a globally distributed, async environment. A strong focus on code quality, testing, and continuous learning will help us deliver reliable, user-friendly pipeline capabilities.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Ruby and Ruby on Rails is required.
• Experience writing testable Ruby on Rails code.
• Experience with relational databases, PostgreSQL is a plus.
• Experience with GraphQL is a plus.
• Ability to self-manage in an asynchronous, collaborative environment.
• Strong communication of complex technical topics and solutions.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, efficient, and maintainable Ruby on Rails backend code.
• Ship small features and improvements with minimal supervision and collaborate on larger projects.
• Improve reliability, security, and performance of pipeline creation features.
• Address technical debt and implement practical solutions.
• Participate in agile planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to drive iterative development.
• Contribute to development processes by giving and receiving constructive feedback.
• Stay current with industry best practices and tools to drive improvements.
• Participate in Tier 2 on-call rotations to support product operations.
