Job summary

AECOM in the United Kingdom is looking for an Engineering Geologist to join our Ground Engineering team. You will plan and supervise ground investigations, log soils/rocks to BS 5930 and EC7, manage sampling and groundwater monitoring, and produce factual and interpretive reports for landmark projects.

You’ll work within multi-disciplinary teams across sectors, with opportunities for chartership development, travel to site locations, and a flexible hybrid working model designed to support

Qualifications

• Degree in Geology/Engineering Geology (MSc preferred or equivalent experience).
• Progress toward, or interest in, chartership (CGeol/CEng) with a relevant professional body.
• Working knowledge of UK investigation standards and guidance (BS 5930, EC7, CDM).
• Experience preparing desk studies, supervising site works, and authoring factual/interpretive reports.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise ground investigations (scoping, method statements, logistics, permits) with a strong safety focus.
• Undertake soil/rock logging to BS 5930 and EC7; manage sampling, in-situ testing, and groundwater monitoring.
• Coordinate and schedule laboratory testing; assure data quality and manage digital records (AGS, OpenGround).
• Prepare factual and interpretive reports, including geohazard assessments and ground models.
• Support options appraisal and preliminary design with geotechnical colleagues.
• Travel to project sites and integrate with environmental, structures, highways, rail, water and energy teams.
