Job summary

AECOM is hiring a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer and Engineering Geologist in the UK, with a focus on the Birmingham intake. The role covers desk studies, site investigations, data analysis and modelling, supported by a two-year GDP development pathway. Hybrid work and international project exposure are available.

Ideal candidates hold a civil engineering or geology degree (2:1+), with MSc advantageous, and are keen to progress toward ICE, IOM3, or The Geological Society certifications.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology with 2:1 or higher.
• MSc/MEng in soil mechanics or geotechnical field advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD/Civil 3D desirable.
• Ground engineering experience preferred but not required.
• Willingness to pursue ICE/IOM3/The Geological Society.
• Interest in ground engineering and client engagement.
• Willingness to travel/work away from home to sites.
• Full UK driving license preferred.
• Motivation to meet client and project delivery expectations.
• Strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Desk studies, site inspections, rockface surveys and mapping.
• Design and procurement of ground investigations.
• Supervision of ground investigation fieldwork.
• Geological interpretation and reporting of findings.
• Geotechnical data analysis and ground model development.
• 3D modelling with Leapfrog and OpenGround data management.
• Access to 2D/3D numerical analysis tools.
