Job summary

A healthcare service provider is seeking a full-time Employment, Training and Education (ETE) Advisor to support individuals with severe mental health issues in accessing education, training, and employment opportunities. Based at Chase Farm Hospital, the role involves working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team across various boroughs. Candidates should have NVQ 3 or equivalent experience along with effective communication and time management skills. The salary ranges from £32,199 to £34,876 annually, inclusive of benefits.

Employment, Training and Education Advisor

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated full time Band 4 Employment, Training and Education (ETE) Advisor to join our Occupational and Vocational Team at the North London Forensic Service (NLFS). The service manages and facilitates the transition of high-risk service users with severe and enduring mental illness through secure inpatient services into the community, working across to the boroughs of Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield & Haringey.

The post involves working across the male and female low and medium secure inpatient wards, and in the community with service users under the forensic outreach teams

Main duties of the job

The ETE Advisor will be responsible for providing information, advice and guidance to the client group in supporting them to access and secure Education, Training & Employment opportunities within the community. The ETE Programme uses a recovery-orientated approach to deliver personalised support tailored specifically to meet the needs and aspirations of each individual. Service aims are focused on co-production with an emphasis on encouraging social inclusion, improving self-esteem, confidence, self-belief and hope for the future, cultivating the discovery or re-discovery of a sense of personal identity; and developing meaningful structure promoting inclusion in their local communities.

About us

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be based at Chase Farm Hospital and be required to work on the secure wards and travel across the boroughs of Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey to support those under the outreach teams. The post requires autonomous working, as well as contributing to the wider multidisciplinary team, attending weekly meetings, face to face contact with service users, both in community and inpatient locations, and, developing links with external services. Clear and adaptable communication, both verbal and written, risk assessment skills, and contribution to clinical discussion is a vital part of the job.
