Job summary

Airedale NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Emergency Department Receptionist (Band 3) to provide a high quality, 24-hour reception/administration service in the Emergency Department, ensuring procedures align with the Trust Right Care values.

The role includes handling ED reception tasks, patient check-in, and coordinating with clinicians, with a requirement for flexibility across shifts including nights; experience with SystmOne is valued.

Qualifications

• Significant and recent reception/office experience in a health care setting.
• Understanding confidentiality policies and procedures.
• Experience working shifts, including nights.
• Ability to communicate sensitively with distressed patients and relatives.
• Commitment to data quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Reception and documentation of patients attending the Emergency Department using the hospital computer system.
• Use judgement to alert nursing/medical staff regarding patients conditions that may require urgent intervention.
• Check clinical coding prior to discharging patient records and manage follow-up referrals.
• Communicate effectively and sensitively to distressed patients and relatives.
• Support the Urgent Care team and the multidisciplinary staff; perform general admin duties.
