Job summary

South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Emergency Call Taker to be the first point of contact for callers in crisis. The role is based on-site at the Emergency Operations Centre in Otterbourne, Hampshire, with comprehensive NHS benefits and full-time/part-time shift options.

Starting pay is £13.17 per hour with uplifts of up to £22.26/hr for Sundays/bank holidays and up to £17.78/hr for Saturdays and weekday nights. Training courses start February 2027 onwards.

Responsibilities

• Answer 999 calls and assess emergencies.
• Gather critical information with effective questioning.
• Provide reassurance and step-by-step guidance to callers.
• Coordinate with emergency responders and document details.
